I also like it, but don't like the notifications icon. I just prefer to click it to redirect to /notifications. It's fine to use it to just look what kind of feedback you just received, but to answer comments? No way. In fact, I think it's like in the old times, with ancient (7 years ago?) dA website, where you had to manually CLICK every notification (like comment/reply) to be redirected to deviation's page and then you could answer.
