Mampituba

The Mampituba river divides both southern states of Brazil -- Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
Its name comes from the Tupi-Guarani native language and means "river with many curves".
This place is just a few miles from its spring, up there in the mountains.
I photographed this just after a storm, as the sun reappeared.
The whole scene had such a primordial beauty.
